Sailing Program aboard the Quark, newly renamed to Heritage
of Apalachicola Throughout
this past Autumn and Winter The Heritage was making weekend sails every
Saturday and Sunday which were open to the public from the 103 Water Street
address. We had many fine
outings. A number of charitable groups
organized outings for the purposes of education and recreation. Participants in these events included The Boy
Scouts Troop from St. George Island Parishioners
of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Apalachicola Apalachicola
Bay and River Keeper The vessel
is now undergoing preventative maintenance while the dock is being replaced
and the structure at Wharf Lot #10 is made usable for the 2008 Summer
Season. Coming soon will be a web
based enrollment for trips this summer.
Monitor this web page for updates in the near future. Following is a photo from one of many
passages out through the Bob Sikes Cut across St. George Island on the way
out into the blue water of the Gulf.

Doin’ Time National Public Radio documentary of the Apalachicola
Chattahoochee Flint river system was originally released in 2001 with an
updated version in 2007. This won the
Edward Murrow award for excellence in journalism by it’s combination of music
and message that helps to evaluate all of the issues facing the river basin
and bring forth awareness and solutions.
As of April, 2008, another 5,000 copies of the CD have been produced
and are being distributed throughout the ACF basin. See the link below for more information. http://www.wuftfm.org/rivers/intro.html A special
thank you to Dale Crider for his leadership in bringing about this
production.
